HOMELESS families on Teesside have received a boost with the extension of a project to take them off the streets.
Tees Valley Housing Group is building a two-storey extension that will add an extra first-floor flat, along with ground-floor communal facilities, to the 13 flats in Penrith Road, Middlesbrough.
Work has started on the site and is expected to be com- pleted in early July.
The project is manned 24 hours a day by a project leader and two project workers, who are backed up by additional support staff.
Billy Barnett, supported housing co-ordinator at Tees Valley Housing Group, said: "This extension will help us to provide extra communal facilities to the existing tenants and to bring another family in to the site."
