A TEENAGER facing charges of making dozens of malicious 999 calls to the emergency services in North Yorkshire was back in court yesterday, accused of breaching her bail.

Harrogate magistrates heard how, hours after telephoning her solicitor in the hope of getting a 12-hour curfew relaxed over the Christmas period, Sharon Tinsley had been found wandering the streets of Ripon at 1.30am.

Miss Tinsley, 19, admitted breaching bail conditions and was told that, while she had put her liberty in jeopardy, she would be re-bailed until January 3, on the same conditions - to live with her mother, in Dudley Walk, Ripon, and to observe a curfew between 7pm and 7am.

Andrew Moore, prosecuting, said police had gone to check on Miss Tinsley at 7.30pm on Wednesday, but discovered that she was not at home.

In the early hours of the following morning, she was found walking in Lead Lane, Ripon.

Miss Tinsley's solicitor, David Camidge, said she had phoned him shortly before 5pm to ask him to seek a relaxation of the curfew over the Christmas and New Year holiday and had been told to write to him so he could give the court full details.

Mr Camidge said she had then gone to tend to a disabled friend and put him to bed for the night. She had been late returning home, had missed the police visit and had had a row, which led to her going out again.

Miss Tinsley is facing several charges, including theft and making malicious phone calls, including up to 66 nuisance calls to the 999 emergency system.
