ONE of Newton Aycliffe's oldest companies has moved premises.
Hewitts Solicitors yesterday opened its offices in Avenue House, Greenwell Road, a development next to Tesco supermarket.
Hewitts first opened a branch in the town centre's Dalton Way 30 years ago, as part of an improvement scheme by Newton Aycliffe Development Corporation to create a centre for business and shopping.
Back then, the firm had just one solicitor based in the town but it now has seven solicitors, with varied specialities, and ten support staff.
Senior partner Gwen Burnett said: "The site will benefit staff and clients.
"We are committed to offering high standards of service and the premises have conference facilities, interview rooms, a computerised administration centre, a nice reception area and facilities for staff.
"Hopefully, people will feel more comfortable accessing our services and will feel confident to just pop in and ask for free friendly advice.
"We also see this move as demonstrating our long term commitment to Newton Aycliffe and want to support the new town centre."
