THE achievements of young people, volunteers and staff from across the North-East were honoured by The Prince's Trust at an awards ceremony.

The glittering event, Celebrate Success, took place at The Hotel Tall Trees, in Yarm.

It was attended by local supporters and the trust's celebrity ambassador, Edward Tudor Pole, who witnessed the inspiring stories of the finalists.

He said "I've been an ambassador for The Prince's Trust for ten years now and the achievements of these young people continue to amaze me." The awards celebrate the achievements of disadvantaged young people, supported by the trust, in transforming their lives.

They also acknowledge the vital leadership and development role of individuals such as team leaders, group advisors and volunteers who support and work with youngsters.

David Beavis, regional director of The Prince's Trust, said: "They demonstrate not only what young people can accomplish if given the right support, but also how they can make a positive impact on their community."

The North-East winners will now compete against ten others to become national winners at The Prince's Trust and RBS Celebrate Success Awards ceremony in London, in spring next year.
