POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an assault in which a group of young men beat up a teenager in Newton Aycliffe at the weekend.
The 18-year-old victim was walking in the Rowan Place area between 11pm and 11.30pm on Saturday night when he was attacked.
Four men, all white and in their late teens or early twenties, took part in the assault.
Two of them had baseball bats, which were used during the fight.
The victim sustained multiple injuries, including a suspected fractured cheekbone.
Officers say there would have been considerable noise and shouting during the incident and urged witnesses to contact PC Andy MacLintock on 0845 6060365.
