THE DURHAM and Chester-le-Street Primary Care Trust has been recognised as one of the top 100 health care organisations in which to work.
The study, which was conducted by the Nursing Times magazine as part of their centenary celebrations, looked at thousands of organisations, including the NHS, independent employers, charitable organisations and the armed forces.
The study said the Durham and Chester-le-Street PCT had a "genuine interest in helping staff to achieve a good work-life balance".
It also found it to be supportive of family-friendly working arrangements and that it had flexible retirement options.
The study also said that the management of the PCT was approachable and open-minded and took a strong lead in staff issues.
Linda Templey, director of primary and community care at the PCT said: "Every aspect of working life was considered during the study.
"This included facilities that were available to staff, how well the organisation manages training and development and the strength of the nursing voice within the organisation.
"The PCT is absolutely delighted to be included in this list."
