Bishop Auckland manager Brian Healy says that he wants to bring the club around to his way of thinking.

Bishops make one of their longest trips of the season to Spalding in Lincolnshire in the First Division today, looking for a win to lift them out of the bottom two.

"I won't be happy with just picking up draws," said Healy.

"I want to win every game, and that's how I want the players and the rest of the club to think.

"If we play like we did on Tuesday night at Kendal, then we will start winning matches, but we also need to strengthen our defence."

Healy gave former Darlington midfielder Michael Oliver his debut in midweek, and he scored two of their goals in the 3-3 draw.

"Michael was outstanding in midweek, and got everybody playing around him."

In the Premier Division, Whitby, who are at Matlock, have been boosted by the news that midfielder Scott Nicholson has agreed a contract to stay at the club until the end of next season. Midfielder Andy Brown and striker Graeme Robinson are both missing because of injury.

Gateshead, who won their first game under new manager Colin Richardson in midweek, are at home to Ashton United and will give new signing Keith Graydon from Dunston his debut. Graydon has already played in the UniBond League for Spennymoor, as has full back David Morgan, another Gateshead target who is currently playing for Horden.

Blyth Spartans are hoping to reach the first round of the FA Cup when they face Chasetown from the Midland Alliance today in the final qualifying round.

Blyth are strong favourites against their Midland Alliance opponents, but manager Harry Dunn, who has seen plenty of action in the past at this stage of the competition, said: "Chasetown are quite a decent side, and will be difficult to beat. We've had them watched, and they could cause problems if we're not careful."

Craig Turns, Martin Peace and Dale Crawford will all have fitness tests, but Alex Gildea is out with a hamstring injury. Dunn might also be bringing in a player from Newcastle on loan.
