HISTORY TALK: Cleveland and Teesside Local History Society presents a talk called Non-Conformist Chapels in the Darlington Area on Thursday, October 20, at 7.15pm. It takes place in the committee room at Middlesbrough College, Marton campus, Marton Road, Middlesbrough.

MUSICAL LUNCH: The Redcar and District Friends of Cancer Research UK are holding a soup and dessert luncheon with musical entertainment from the Redcar Male Voice Choir. The event will take place on Wednesday, at Guisborough Town Football Club at 12.30pm for a 1pm start. Tickets are £5 and are available on (01287) 634571 or (01642) 481003.

TAKING SHAPE: An Iron Age roundhouse being built in the grounds of a local museum is beginning to take shape. The structure at Kirkleatham Museum, Redcar, is part of a project linked to the fourth annual archaeological dig at nearby Foxrush Farm, off Kirkleatham Lane. The roundhouse, measuring 20ft in diameter and 14ft high, is hand-made with roof beams and a thatched roof. It is hoped it will last for ten years.

COFFEE MORNING: Newcomen Methodist Church, Redcar, will hold a coffee morning on Saturday, October 8, from 10am to 11.30am. There will be home-made pastries and cakes. Admission is 50p and includes tea, coffee and biscuits. All proceeds will go towards church funds.

HARVEST SERVICE: Harvest celebrations will take place on Sunday, October 9 at All Saints' Church, Skelton and St Peter's Church, New Skelton. The celebrations will begin with the harvest eucharist, at 10am, at All Saints Church, followed by songs of praise, at 6pm, at St Peter's Church.

CHURCH date: New Marske Methodist Church is holding a coffee morning on Saturday, October 8, between 10am and noon. There will be a bric-a-brac stall, cakes and tombola. Admission is 50p and includes coffee.
