Captain David Rutherford produced a man-of-the-match performance to lead table-topping Ashington to victory over Burnopfield. He took seven for 21 runs before hitting 12 boundaries in 71 not out as the Colliers won with eight wickets remaining.

Second-top Tynedale had to pull out all the stops to beat Sacriston in a high scoring match. Phil Shield (57) and Ross McLaren with 86 took the visitors to 240 for nine.

Neil Clark (43) and Scott Kay (51) then gave Tynedale a good start but it needed late contributions from Henry Twizell and Mark Armstrong to keep alive the Hexham side's title hopes.

Swalwell remain third restricting Shotley Bridge to only 81 as Mark Cosgrove and Jimmy Smith shared seven wickets. The Dumighan brothers, Paul and Jason, then batted out a six wicket win.

Rohan Rafique was Leadgate's star player against Ponteland. After capturing five for 29 he ended 111 not out leading his team, who are in fourth place, to a seven wicket victory.

Lanchester lost by 77 runs to Newcastle City.

Kumar and Singh both made unbeaten centuries in City's near-300 total and although Aslam and Iqbal both passed 70, Lanchester were all out for 214 with Singh taking five of the wickets.

Benwell and Walbottle won by one wicket at Annfield Plain, for whom Nikita Miller hit a half-century in a total of 210 for seven.

Latif ended unbeaten on 63 and Stephen Reed added 40 as Benwell scraped home.

Lintz are promoted after just one season in Division A2. Stuart Clennell (68) led them to 176 for nine at Consett who were all out for 74. Greenside and Whickham both won and are battling it out for the other promotion place.
