SHOPPERS at a supermarket have been on a £2.6m winning streak in National Lottery payouts since the draw started 11 years ago.

The Morrison's branch in Bishop Auckland, County Durham, is in the top five in a national league table of the company's stores.

Since 1994, more than 465,000 prizes have been claimed at the branch's Lottery counter.

General manager David Russell said: "We were all thrilled to learn that our store is one of the top Morrisons stores for National Lottery winnings paid out.

"It is unbelievable to think that we have paid our more than £2.6m to over 465,000 lucky - and very happy - customers and I hope to see many more claiming their winnings here in the future.
