A CRICKET team has received a grant towards the cost of creating a new wicket.
For the last 20 years, members of Esh Winning Cricket Club have played on the same artificial wicket.
Having already secured a grant of £3,000 from the Cricket Foundation, the club received the final £1,000 they needed from Brandon and Byshottles Parish Council.
Chairman Councillor William Dowsey presented the grant to cricketers Stuart Hall, captain of the under-18s side, and Michael Bussey, captain of the under-15s.
The new pitch will be used by the club's five teams - two senior and three junior sides. Club officials say the wicket is essential in developing the cricketing skills of the youngsters.
