A BREWERY has agreed to provide sponsorship for a newly-formed pub team.
Members of the team playing under the banner of the Durham Light Infantryman pub, in Gilesgate, Durham, are celebrating the new deal from Heineken.
The brewing company has provided the team with new strips - as well as special offers at the pub.
The DLI pub is run by Sarah Lonsdale, 22, and her partner, James Niles, 23, who are the youngest landlords in County Durham.
James' father Robert Niles, who is a partner in the business, said he had invited the former Coach & Eight pub team to play at the DLI when they found themselves without a home.
Mr Niles (Snr) said: "We used to sell another brand at the pub, which was not doing very well so we invited Heineken to sell their product here.
"They kindly offered to sponsor the team. Getting the strip has been fantastic. It has given the team a new confidence."
As part of the agreement, the pub can offer a "buy a pint get a half free" for its Heineken brew, as well as other offers.
The team play their first match away against Esh Winning on Sunday.
