FAMILIES had fun in the sun this weekend at an activity-packed party day.
The event, held in Lascelles Park in Darlington, included a bucking bronco, a climbing wall and Punch and Judy show for youngsters, and, for the older generation, a tea dance and band.
Police, ambulance and Neighbourhood Watch representatives all attended to give demonstrations and meet local people.
The day ended with a packed family barbecue.
Joe Prettyman, chairman of the Lascelles Park Residents' Association, said all the organisers were very pleased with how the day went.
"It was a really good day, it was really crowded and the weather on the afternoon made it especially good," he said.
"The day was centred around our newly-opened play area, which the children loved.
"I think everyone really enjoyed themselves, which is good because a lot of effort went into organising it and making sure there was something for everyone."
The next meeting of the residents' association will be on Wednesday - and every second Wednesday of the month thereafter - in Rosemary Court at 6pm.
