CHARITY fundraisers have thanked a car dealership for its help with a charity trek.
John Gill Limited, of Bedale, provided a Jeep Grand Cherokee as a support vehicle for a marathon trek along 150 miles of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path in Wales.
The charity trek was organised Sergeant Richard Kingston, of RAF Leeming, who lost his wife, Ingrid, to breast cancer earlier this year.
The journey was completed in six days and donations and sponsorship meant the trek kers raised nearly £3,500 for Cancer Research UK and the British Heart Foundation.
Sgt Kingston said: "Ingrid fought bravely for a year and underwent two bouts of surgery, followed by gruelling courses of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. She finally developed secondary lung cancer and lost her fight.
"The Grand Cherokee carried all our equipment and met us at the rendezvous points for replenishment of food and water. It was an absolute godsend - without it, we would never have been able to do it."
