BRITAIN'S greatest Paralympian was the star guest as Darlington youngsters' sporting achievements were honoured.

Eleven-times gold medal winner Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson addressed the audience at Carmel RC Technology College's fifth sports presentation evening.

Dame Tanni spoke to a packed John Caden Hall of her introduction to athletics, her successes and disappointments, her family and her love of sport.

Year ten pupils Jade Levy and Sarah McDonogh presented her with a bouquet and a donation to Zoe's Place, the Teesside-based children's hospice of which she is patron.
