SIXTY Wear Valley residents have registered for a Ton Up Challenge to walk or run 100 miles over the summer months.
The challenge is part of Wear Valley District Council's contribution to a regional Million Miles Challenge, promoted by Sport England and launched at the British Heart Foundation Great North Walk in Wolsingham.
Wear Valley's event closes on Friday, September 16, two days before the Great North Run.
Peases West Athletics Track is open for the challenge on Mondays to Fridays between noon and 2pm, and Monday to Thursday from 6 to 8pm.
Miles walked on Wear Walking for Health-led walks count towards the total.
The next one is an easy three-mile walk on Sunday, starting at 2pm from the car park at Willington Health Centre.
