health care assistant Deborah Thompson and staff nurse Ann Kershaw really went that extra mile to help patients.
The duo, who work at the Friarage Hospital, Northallerton, completed a sponsored walk on the North York Moors, raising £3,400 for a bladder scanner.
An essential piece of high-tech monitoring equipment, it costs about £8,500 and will benefit patients in wards on the medical floor at the hospital.
Deborah and Ann started out from Helmsley, completing the 110-mile walk in nine days.
Deborah said: "This was a great challenge and experience and we both really enjoyed it, though it was hard work and we both had a few blisters to prove it.
"We would like to say a big thank-you to our all our generous friends, family, colleagues from the hospital and all the local companies who sponsored us for helping us to keep going and finish the walk.
