TWO teenage footballers have been signed up for Sunderland's FC's academy.
Matthew Haymer and Steven Wayson, both 14, will get one day a week of intensive football training for the next year.
The boys are pupils at Eastbourne Comprehensive School, in Darlington, and will continue their studies.
Acting headteacher of Eastbourne, Eamonn Farrar, said: "The school has given permission for the boys to attend the academy one day a week and they will continue to come to us for the rest of the time.
"They are two very talented footballers and they both have the potential to play at the highest levels.
"It will take a lot of discipline but I am sure they will both exceed expectations."
