A DRIVER was left with a broken nose after a road rage incident in Shotley Bridge.
It happened on Front Street, near the junction of Snows Green Road, following a near collision between a red Rover 600 and a white Ford Transit van.
One had to swerve to avoid the other and afterwards words were exchanged between the motorists and the Rover driver followed the van.
A second exchange took place between the men before one was attacked and suffered a broken nose and facial injuries.
He was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham by ambulance.
PC Kev Cheston said: "There was a verbal altercation initially and the white van had driven off. It was followed by the red vehicle on to Snows Green Road where an assault took place.
"We would like to hear from anyone who saw the incident or has any information."
The incident happened at 10.45am on July 6. The number to call is 0845 6060 365.
