POLICE have issued an appeal for information after a fire which destroyed an empty pub.
The blaze at the Rock Bar, in Station Road, Easington Colliery, caused massive disruption, as roads were closed to traffic because the building became so unsafe it had to be demolished.
Fire broke out at about 3am on Thursday and swept through the building, which has been earmarked for redevelopment as housing.
A spokesman for Durham Police said: "Police crime scene investigators and investigation officers from the fire and rescue service have yet to establish the cause of the blaze."
Anyone with information is asked to ring police on 0845 6060 365.
