VISITORS to Darlington enjoyed a tea dance in the town centre yesterday.
The event was part of the Darlington Festival 05 and guests had the chance to listen to music, enter competitions, dances and enjoy strawberry cream teas.
Councillor Lee Vasey, Darlington Borough Council's cabinet member for leisure, said: "The day was a great success. Lots of people visited the market place to enjoy the music and their cream tea. The weather was great as well."
The event coincided with the monthly farmers' market.
The borough council said it hoped the use of fairtrade tea at the event would help to achieve its ambitions of becoming a Fairtrade Town.
To gain the title, the council must show that it, and other businesses, are committed to selling and serving fairtrade produce.
