Law firm Short, Richardson and Forth is to double the size of its legal team.

The firm, in Mosley Street, Newcastle, has appointed a number of lawyers and administrative staff.

Two of the founder members of the firm, Michael Short and David Forth, will take on consultancy roles, while the third, David Richardson, will become senior partner.

John Harrison will become managing partner with a number of lawyers joining the existing team.

Taking up a new role with the firm is Tim Berg, a litigation and insolvency specialist, who joins Short, Richardson and Forth from Bradford. Mr Berg will lead the litigation team and is being joined by Mark Green, who previously worked at Newcastle law firm Mincoffs.

The employment team has recruited specialist Jean Pierre Van Zyl, from Hull, and the firm has offered training contracts to Kunal Duggal and Nicola Rawlinson.

The post of practice manager has been created for Marilyn Armstrong, recruited from Blackett Hart and Pratt to oversee the firm's investment in accounts and information technology systems.
