A PRIMARY school is ending term on a sporting high note after winning cricketing and footballing trophies.
Framwellgate Moor Primary School had entered four teams in the Durham Kwik Cricket District Annual Shield competition.
With both its first and second teams facing each other in the final at Brandon cricket ground, teacher Jill Holroyd said no one knew just who to cheer for.
At least staff, parents and pupils at least knew for certain they would be going home with the trophy and watched with mixed loyalties as the pupils from its first team pipped their classmates at the final post.
The school's football team has also come out on top in the final of the league of Framwellgate Moor Schools soccer tournament, which also brought some drama.
Coached by Les Hardy, whose daughter Emma teaches at the school, Framwellgate faced Finchale Primary A team in the final. At full-time the score stood at 1-1 and had to go to penalties.
"It was very tense but we were delighted when we finally won,'' said Miss Hardy.
