RESIDENTS have been assured a town centre pub's extended licence will not mean the venue becomes a nightclub.
The Wagon and Horses, in Bedale, has got permission to open from 10am to midnight every day.
Neighbours objected, fearing more noise and an increase in unruly behaviour.
But Joe Smith, regional manager from Enterprise Inns, which owns the pub, said: "We are not going to be open seven nights a week until midnight. The licensing trade is changing immensely and we have to fall into line, but this is not going to be an all-singing, all-dancing pub and we are not planning a nightclub."
