A GARDEN wall described as vertical crazy paving must be taken down.
A retrospective planning application for the wall at Parkshill Court, Melsonby, near Richmond, was rejected and enforcement action will be taken.
Senior planning officer Peter Featherstone described it as vertical crazy paving and said its 1970s-style did not fit in with stonework on the Wharton's Farm estate.
He told Richmondshire District Council that the stones had been laid on end instead of traditionally.
The meeting heard that the applicant said he had been advised verbally by the planning department that permission was not required.
An officers' report said a complaint from the applicant had been investigated, but that no fault was found on the council's part.
