A COUNCIL'S decision to refuse permission for a detached house and garage has been upheld by a Government inspector.
An appeal was lodged after Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council refused the application to build behind a house on Stokesley Road, in Guisborough, last year.
The application involved the proposed property sharing a driveway with an existing house, which the applicant believed would be suitable for residents in both properties.
But inspector Gwynn Rowlands said: "While the appellant may regard the arrangement of the proposed dwelling and existing house to be acceptable, I must have regard to the living conditions which occupiers of the properties in the future could reasonably expect to enjoy."
Mr Rowlands said the new building would cause a disturbance to those living in the existing house and rejected the appeal.
