A NORTH-EAST Army officer is helping to ensure that troops serving in Kosovo are kept well clothed and fed.
Major George Myers, of Consett, who serves with the 5th General Service Medical Regiment, The Royal Army Medical Corps, is part of the British contribution to the Nato-led Peace Implementation Force.
As a quarter master, it is Major Myers' job to ensure that every aspect of supplies is covered.
He said: "The day-to-day job of myself and my team encompasses all sorts of logistic support of the unit, from feeding the soldiers and clothing them to the supply of medication and equipment for the hospital.
"I am also responsible for the locally-employed civilians. We have 65 of them working here."
Major Myers joined the Army in 1976 and has served all over the world.
He said: "Places are what you make them, and British soldiers are good at making wherever they are like home."
