STEVEN Gawman, of Chester-le-Street ASC, took two titles at the North-East Counties ASA Kelloggs Frosties age group championship gala at Sheffield, as well as picking up minor medals and other placings in a fine series of swims.

Gawman was an outstanding winner of the boys' 13 years 400 metres individual medley, finishing nearly nine seconds clear of runner-up Liam Smith (City of Leeds).

Gawman's other title win came in the 200 individual medley, coming from behind to beat Ciaran Hansen (Gateshead and Whickham) into second place by well over three seconds.

It was silver for Gawman in the 200 breaststroke, pipped for gold by Middlesbrough's James Carter. Gawman made it a full set of medals by taking bronze in the 100 and 200 backstroke events. He was also fourth in the 100 and 1500 freestyle, showing his stamina and versatility.

Chester clubmate Stephanie Proud was a clear winner of the girls' 12 years 100 backstroke, beating City of Newcastle pair Michelle Hunter and Danielle Berry into the minor placings. She also took bronze in the 100 freestyle.
