YOUNGSTERS will take part in a week-long exhibition on tackling bullying.

Every school and pupil has been invited to the event, which will be held at County Hall, Durham, between Monday and Friday, July 10 to 14.

It is designed to provide children, teachers and parents with information to help them tackle bullying and give information on the support services available.

The county council says its anti-bullying service has had great success but recognises the need to work with other agencies to reduce the level of bullying further.

Marianne Taylor, of the council's educational psychology service, said: "In past years the council has held anti-bullying conferences, but this year we thought it would be more advantageous to have a week-long exhibition in which the children will play a very active role."

Val McFarlane, a co-ordinator with the anti-bullying service, said: "Pupils we've been working with in the schools have made up some superb plays about bullying and will be performing them during the week. Others have designed their own artwork, which we will be displaying.

"The exhibition will celebrate what we and the children have already achieved and let others know what can be done."
