CHAMPIONSHIP contenders Keith Penman, of Darlington, and Martin Wood were both winners of the Formula Colway 'double header' race meeting at Snetterton.

But, while Wood went all 12 laps, Penman's win was decided by just one circuit of the Norfolk track! Torrential rain caused havoc on the track, and the first of the two races for Porsche 924s was started and stopped three times due to incidents before officials decided one clear lap was sufficient to give Penman victory ahead of Wood and Mark McAleer, of Richmond.

The much drier second race for championship points went the whole 12 laps, with Penman and Wood, from Lancashire, battling right through to the chequered flag, the advantage going to Wood by less than a second. Third place in the much shortened first race went to McAteer, but the reigning Colway champion did not have a good day.

In pole position for the second race, McAleer had a spin on the opening lap and finished in ninth place. Penman's win and second place, plus an extra point for fastest lap, puts him into a 14 points lead over Wood. McAleer holds fourth position in the table.
