ROSIE Smith, of Durham City Harriers, added yet another title to her string of successes when she became 1500m champion in the Northern track and field championships at Wigan.

Competing in the U17 age group, Rosie stormed to victory in an excellent time of 4.43, which must have further boosted her confidence for the forthcoming English schools' championships at Sheffield.

Tom Coffield, another of Durham's talented athletes who is also having a fine season, finished a very creditable tenth in the U15 boys' 3000m in a very good time of 10.16.

Meanwhile, at the 20th Blaydon Race over 5.7 miles, Ian Crampton was once again first counter for the Harriers, finishing in a very fine 28th place with a time of 30.08. Other Harriers times were: B Knox (44th 31.13), S Marshall (V40 69th 32.08), A Powell (V50 153rd 34.34), M Heslop (V50 277th 36.32), G Armstrong (297th 36.47), A Adams (V50 324th 37.13), G Bradley (V40 415th 38.14); G Malvern (V40 909th 42.40), J Davison (1016th 43.31), S Luke (1179th 44.54).
