BOTH Darlington cricket sides lost on their travels at the weekend in the Darlington Building Society NY and SD premier division.

Darlington batted first against leaders Saltburn and could only muster an all out total of 149 with opener Mark Stainsby making a top score of 47, Keith Barker 36 and Mark Jobling 26. Not one of the other batsmen reached double figures.

Pakistan professional Maujashim Rashid, who bowled 23 overs, claimed 5-51 and Adil Ditta took 3-34 in ten overs.

Ditta then opened and scored nine boundaries in an innings 66 for the home side as they eased to a comfortable six-wicket win.

RA also batted first at the Welfare Ground, Blackhall, and made 156-9 in their 50 overs and included a half-century by Ged Hull.

Former RA player Stuart Morgan claimed 4-40 and professional Michael Foster 3-34.

The Blackhall reply stuttered but opener John Darby made 50, and an unbeaten 33 from Ben Usher ensured a home victory by four wickets as they moved into third place.

Andrew Russell making his Premier League debut bowled well to earn 2-39.

Richmondshire also lost after making first use of the wicket at Fountains Garth, Guisborough, where they posted a respectable 176-9 in their allocated overs with a top score of 62 from Pakistan pro Umer Rashid.

This total proved insufficient as Guisborough romped to an impressive eight-wicket win thanks largely to a superb unbeaten 84 from Graham Shaw and 37 from opener Saul Clifford.

The Stanwix brothers were instrumental in the Quakers 2nd Xl being dismissed for 45 by promotion contenders Barnard Castle.

Captain Mike, 5-16, and Dave, 4-17, caused many problems for the visiting batsmen. The home side won by seven wickets and retain second place but close the gap with leaders Billingham to eight points.
