FAMILIES have been warned it could be weeks or even months before their homes are habitable again.
Surveyors are expected to draw up 'dilapidation' schedules, itemised accounts of what is needed to be done in 38 council houses in Skinningrove. There were 101 homes affected by the flooding, including 61 owner-occupiers, who are also receiving council checks.
A fund of £100,000 has been set aside by the council, which is also compiling an application for emergency relief from the Government.
An advice centre has been set up in the old village school while towels, blankets and soap have been distributed to residents, along with an information sheet containing health advice.
