JOBLESS people from communities devastated in the recent flooding have been offered work clearing up their homes.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council believes it can create up to five jobs as its workforce tackles the clean-up in Skinningrove.
The task will involve people working on their own homes, and include clearing out kitchens, removing skirting boards and floor tiles and rotivating silt-covered gardens, which are recovering from last Sunday's flash floods.
Project coordinator Joe Youmans said: "If everything can be sorted out, we would like to think these men can start work next week."
The offer of work was made to residents at a meeting with council officers, and application forms have already been handed out. The council is also hoping to give residents a start and completion date for work on their homes by next week.
The meals service and advice centre will remain open at the weekend.
