AN evening of celebration with performances from an Asian youth dance group has been held in Darlington.
The Navrangats dance group displayed their talents to more than 140 people in St Cuthbert's Church Hall.
There was also a performance by youngsters from the Y2K youth club, from Eastbourne, Darlington, who gave speeches on the theme of racism and staged short plays they had written.
The evening was organised by the Durham Police community liaison group and Darlington and Durham County Racial Equality Council.
The theme of cultural diversity in Darlington will be continued at an event at the town's Dolphin Centre, on Saturday, July 15, from 12pm to 6pm.
Footballer Gary Bennett will be opening the celebration, which includes Asian dance, ethnic food, music and children's activities.
Tickets costing £3 for adults and £1 for concessions will be available at the door
