FORMER England skipper Alan Shearer congratulated another young mother only hours after his wife gave birth to his new son.

Marie Robson, 21, gave birth in the car park of the hospital where Shearer's new baby had just been delivered.

The young mum rushed to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary on Friday after she went into labour. But she was forced to give birth to little 7lb 6oz Carmen Marie in the back of her car.

And, shortly after bursting into tears as he found out he had a new baby son, Shearer sent his congratulations to Marie.

Shearer, 30, and wife Lainya, 29, became the proud parents of a strapping 8lb 6oz lad on Friday and the footballing star immediately tipped him as a star striker of the future.

Marie, from Kenton, Newcastle, said: "There wasn't any time to get into the hospital and I had to have Carmen there and then in the back of the car.

"The midwife told me that she had just delivered Alan Shearer's baby and he later passed on a message through her saying 'congratulations'."

After the birth, Shearer admitted he cried, saying: "When I realised it was a little boy I just burst into tears. Both Lainya and the baby are fine and from the size of him I reckon he could be a bustling centre forward of the future."

The youngster has not get been named but he has been tipped already by bookies at 250-1 to play for the England team.
