Darlington Boys

THE U-15s got their campaign in the Teesside Alliance off to a flying start with a hard-fought 2-1 victory at Hartlepool's Mulgrave Athletic. Despite falling a goal behind in the early stages, the Boys played some intelligent football and levelled through a clever looping header by Danny Eeles. A cracking second half volley by Phil Smith put the Boys in front and the visitors should have taken advantage of the gaps that appeared as Mulgrave piled forward in search of an equaliser.

The Man of the Match was Danny Wilson.

Chester-le-Street Town

The U-17s returned to winning ways with a comfortable 4-1 win at Blackfyne. In a tight first half Chester took the lead five minutes before half time when Ryan Drummond drove a brilliant left foot shot into the roof of the net from 25 yards.

The home side equalised five minutes into the second half after a mistake by Phillip Curry but Chester put on a later show with three goals in the final 15 minutes. Drummond scored again with another fine effort, before Craig Patterson chased a long through ball to make it 3-1. With five minutes to go, left-back Andrew Robinson, playing his first match of the season, rattled the fourth off the underside of the crossbar. Midfielder Dean Grayson was the Chester's Man of the Match.

The U-13s, steadily improving in their first season, went down 4-2 away to Low Fell in the first round of the league cup. Leading 2-1 at half-time through a double strike from Gary Thompson, the home side took control after the break to run out winners. David Myers was Man of the Match.

The U-15s, depleted by injuries, could only field ten players and were without their regular goalkeeper for the cup match at SAFC 24/7.

Midfielder Kieron Loan took the goalkeeper's jersey but could not prevent the Cestrians going down 3-1. Andrew Armstrong converted a penalty for Chester-le-Street.

On Sunday the U-13s are away to Seaham Red Star, the U-15s are at John E. Laing (1pm), the U-16s at home to Vimac (11am), and the U-17s are at South Shields (11am).

Willington Boys

Playing in the Russell Foster League Cup, the U-15s had a remarkable 15-1 win over Cleadon Terry Garside scoring five, Sam Smallman four, Michael Burn three and one each for Michael Coulthard, Dan Fox and Tom Dennis.

The U-14s romped to a 10-0 victory at home to Premier League rivals Whitburn in the first round of the league cup. Goals from David Jackson (4), Martin Hopps (3), Man of the Match Ryan Emsley, Chris English and Liam Howe secured the win.

Man of the Match Martin Trow scored a hat-trick for the U-11s in their 6-0 home win over FC Via Systems in the Russell Foster League. Jake Henderson and Benjamin Horn (2) got the other goals in an excellent team performance in which Willington dominated the second half having led 1-0 at half time.

The U-10s made if four wins out of four in the Russell Foster seven-a-side league with double success at the weekend, beating Riverside RAR 2-1 and Holly Park Rangers 6-0. Jonathan Walker and Barry Shields scored in the first game while Andrew Shields, Man of the Match Wayne Walker (4) and Jonathan Baines scored in the second match. Man of the Match was Barry Shields.

Willington U-8s beat Towncastle Rovers 3-1 and Hylton Castle Juniors 2-1 in their seven-a-side league. The goals in the first game came from Andrew Stocks, Jordan Roberts and an own goal. Jack Davidson and Roberts netted in the second.

Byers Green

The U-8s picked up four points at the weekend drawing 1-1 with Houghton Boys tahnks to Dean Thexton's goal. Man of the Match was defender Adam Hindmarch. In their second game, Byers beat Pennywell 4-0, with another strike from Thexton, Callum Blanchard and two from Man of the Match Ross Morrow.

The U-9s Haze team suffered two defeats, going down 2-1 to Seaham Red Star and 1-0 to Durham County Midgies. Dominic Fish struck a fine free kick in the defeat to Seaham to put Byers 1-0 up, but the opponents hit back with two second half goals to take all three points.

The U-9s Bees picked up three points when they beat East Bolden Wanderers 3-1, with a hat trick from Sam Green while the second game saw Byers go down 1-0 against a very strong Riverside team.

The U-10s Haze side retained second place in the league and kept pace with the leaders as they won four points at the weekend. Byers conceded their first goals of the season when drawing 2-2 with Plains Farm having taken the lead through a Reece Ellis free kick, but found themselves 2-1 down until a late equaliser from Daniel Russell. In the second game Byers ran out comfortable 5-0 winners over Redby Whites, with goals from Richard Suddes, Ethan Rivers and a hat trick from Ellis.

Byers Green U-10s Bees team won one and lost one against both of the teams from the Riverside. Bees won the first game 1-0, thanks to a goal from Tom Burn and a Man of Match defensive display from Josh Rosengarten. In the second game the team went down 4-2 with two goals from Man of the Match Michael Condron.

Newton Aycliffe Youth Centre

The U-10s A team kept up there 100 per cent record this with a 5-1 win over South East Durham Boys. The scorers were D Thorne (2), S Lowe1, S Wild (2) while the Man of the Match was M Flory.

Playing in the Durham County Cup, the U-11s went out to Clavering Park 9-1.

The U-12s lost 3-0 at Marton FC 3-0 while G Robinson's goal for the U-13s wasn't enough to save them from a 3-1 home defeat to Guisborough Town.

The U-14s were beaten 5-0 at home by Stockton West End however, the U-15s were involved in a ten-goal thriller at home to Stockton West End.

The game ended 5-5 with R Stonehouse notching a hat-trick while M Ross and C Mason also scored. Stonehouse and Mason were both given Man of the Match awards.

The U-16s are unbeaten at the but could only manage a draw 2-2 at home to Hartlepool St Francis with M Cairns and C Lang scoring.

Durham Youth Cup

As with all Durham County FA cup competitions this season there will be no replays in County Youth Cup ties. Extra time and penalties will be played if required.

The first round of the Durham Youth Cup U-18 will be played on Saturday, October 7. Cleveland Bridge and Swalwell Juniors have byes to the next round. Swalwell have one because scheduled opponents Marsden CW have folded.
