A SHOPPING event held annually to raise money for charity hopes to top the £100,000 mark later this month.
The Durham Shopping Extravaganza, run by a team of volunteers, is a registered charity which has raised £86,000 over the past 11 years for good causes in County Durham. Now, the organisers hope to take the total to £100,000.
The shopping event will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, October 18 and 19, at The Ramside Hall Hotel, near Durham City, between 10am and 4pm.
About 60 traders from all over the country will be selling goods including designer clothing, fashion accessories, toys and children's clothes, jewellery, fine foods and Christmas cards.
Proceeds this year will go to St Teresa's Hospice, Darlington, Teesdale and Weardale Search and Rescue and the Children's Foundation Yellow Brick Road Appeal.
The county's Red Cross branch will run a tea room at the event. There will also be a raffle. Admission costs £3
