NEW figures have shown that one of Hambleton's most popular tourist attractions is continuing to pull in the crowds.

Visitor numbers at the Captain Cook Schoolroom Museum, in Great Ayton, the village where the explorer spent his childhood, have risen by over ten per cent this year. A record 3,120 people visited the centre.

Dr Ken Coatsworth, chairman of the museum trust, said: "It appears that the museum is bucking the national trend of falling visitor figures."
