A ROLLING register was introduced in Harrogate yesterday which should help keep the district's electoral roll up to date.

Until now, the list of names and addresses has only been altered to account for house moves and deaths once a year.

But anyone can contact Harrogate Borough Council to pass on details of a change of address, eliminating the possibility they could lose their vote at an election.

Senior elections officer Karen Birdsall said: "There are 115,000 people of the council's electoral register and we try very hard to keep it up to date.

"Anyone who thinks their name or property may have been missed should contact the office so we can check it out.

"Anyone who has moved recently or is not registered at their current address and who wishes to vote in the local election on Thursday, May 3, needs to register before Monday, March 12.''
