\AT the league management committee meeting on Monday, DSRM SC were dismissed from the league as they were unable to give an assurance that they could complete their remaining fixtures having failed to field a team on two occasions in the previous 14 days.

Their results to date will stand, and every fixture there were due to play for the remainder of the season will go down as a 1-0 win to whoever their opponents were due to be.

Because they failed to field a team twice in two weeks, DSRM SC have also been fined £50 and deducted a further three points, which means they drop to the bottom of the table in place of Archdeacon who lost 3-0 to Shuttle and Loom.

Scorers for the Shuttle were Darren Johnson (2) and Chris Airey.

On a wet and miserable evening. East End defeated Killinghall Arms 2-0 in the Invitation Trophy final which was played at a furious pace.

In the first few minutes Killie keeper Callum McCue made a tremendous one-handed save to turn a goal-bound effort over the bar at full stretch. Killie spurned their only real chance of the game and it was East End who made the most of the running. However, it was not until the 55th minutes that McCue, impeded by two of his own defenders, failed to connect propery with a high ball into the area and the ball dropped to the feet of Steved Johnson who turned it into the empty net from eight yards.

Killie had their best spell as they sought an equaliser, but East End's goal was never really threatened and in the 70th minute a long ball out of defence enabled the speedy Johnson to outstrip his marker and his shot eluded the diving McCue.

Back on league duty, East End WMC were restricted by Cricketers to long-range shots in a fairly even first half until Steven Baldesera broke through for the opening goal. Midway through the second-half David Lewis levelled matters with a free-kick only for East End to retake the lead ten minutes later. Pushing for another equaliser Cricketers allowed East End through for a third and all three points to keep the Clubmen's outside championship hopes alive. Jimmy Francis (2) was East End's other marksman.

In an entertaining encounter in very wet conditions, RA Social put a dent in Cleveland Bridge's title aspiration defeating the latter 6-4. RA led 3-2 at the interval, but immediately on the resumption, Cleveland were awarded a penalty but Martyn Porter pulled off an excellent save diving to his right.

RA increased their lead to 5-2 but despite Cleveland's late rally held on for victory. Steven Boyle (3), Peter Gormley, Danny Maddams and Andrew Weatherell scored for RA. Duane Beagle (3) and substitute Lee Cloke replied.

Cleveland Bridge and Hole in the Wall met for the second successive Saturday and the margin was again three goals, Bridge winning 4-1. Paul Wheldon, Ross Ainslie, Wayne Buckley and substitute Chris Scott scored for Bridge.

Cricketers dominated their encounter with Archdeacon from the start and were good value for a 2-0 interval lead with goals from David Wilson and a David Lewis penalty. Martin Skipsey made it three shortly after the restart. Archdeacon pulled one back, but a 25-yard scorcher from Matthew Collinson restored Cricketers three-goal advantage. Archdeacon reduced the arrears following another defensive mix-up but Lewis converted his second penalty and in the dying minutes Archdeacon got a third to make the final score 5-3.

The GSOB-Newton Aycliffe fixture was postponed when the Old Boys could only muster six players.

DSRM SC managed to field eight players and Jason Speight and Paul Strickland scored in a predictably one-sided encounter in which Killinghall Arms could have doubled their nine-goal total. Andy Roberts (3), Matthew Hanniufan (2), Steven Paylor, Mike Turner, Daniel Fleary and John Robson were killie's scorer.

Post Boy had to wait until the 60th minutes for Paul Robson to put them ahead. Substitute Nigel Clarke equalised for RA Social with the last kick of the match.

On a poor pitch, Shuttle and Loom and Spraire produced an entertaining encounter. Spraire went ahead when Terry Greenstreet's 20-yard shot hit a post and Tom Bennett knocked in the rebound. Shuttle levelled through Stuart Curry but Liam Coleman restored Spraire's lead and with Shuttle down to ten men following a serious ankle injury to a player went further ahead through Mike Mitchell and Gavin Rose before Curry again reduced the deficit on the stroke of half-time. Despite Shuttle's efforts in the second-half, Spraire increased their lead to 6-2 when Rose and Coleman added to their first-half efforts.

Speedy Hire dented East End's title hopes with a battling performance. Despite having most of the possession, East End could not convert it into goals and with the scores level until the final 15 minutes a Phil North penalty and a late Darren Watson goal gave Speedy a 4-2 win. Earlier Aaron Radstock's two striker had been cancelled out by goals from Mark Maddison and Shaun Collins.
