Darlington suffered their sixth straight defeat and sealed Blackpool's place in the play-offs at Feethams this afternoon.
Steve McMahon's side will now play Hartlepool over two legs after a comfortable 3-1 win over Gary Bennett's beleagured Quakers.
Prolific striker Brett Ormerod gave the visitors the perfect start after just eight minutes, meeting Paul Simpson's near post corner with a diving header.
With news of results going their way elsehwere, the Blackpool supporters were given extra reason to cheer but striker John Williams soon silenced the visitng army of fans when he prodded the ball home after 51 minutes.
However, defender Dan Shittu, on-loan from Premiership high flyers Charlton, restored the visitors' lead five minutes later when he headed the ball past Andy Collett.
Former Manchester United Richard Wellens sealed victory for his side on the hour when he raced in to the Darlington box unmarked, to slot past Collett with ease.
