ABSEILERS from across the country took part in the British Lung Foundation's Tyne Bridge Abseil on Sunday.
The event was a huge success and raised £17,000 for research into lung disease.
Top fundraiser was Alma Blanchard, a 76-year-old grandmother, from Howdon, North Tyneside, who collected £700.
Alma has had a lung condition all her life and runs the Wallsend and District Breathe Easy support group.
Bev Wears, regional manager for the British Lung Foundation's Breathe North office, said: "We are very grateful to everyone who took part in this event and raised such a wonderful amount for the charity."
