MEN and women went football crazy together at one of the North-East's premier sporting venues yesterday.
About 70 adults from day care centres across the county took part in the five-a-side tournament and penalty shoot-out at Chester-le-Street's Riverside Sports Complex.
Organisers hailed the annual event as a resounding success - especially as a record four women took part.
"Everyone enjoyed it. It was first-rate fun as always," said spokesman Dawn Hirst for County Durham Care. "It was good to see the girls getting involved as well".
The winner of the penalty shoot-out A-division was Paul Summerson, of the Durham Centre, and runner-up was William Amos, of the Auckland Gate Centre, Bishop Auckland.
In B-division, David Betty, of the Shinwell Centre at Peterlee, won with Kevin Plews, of the Auckland Gate centre, runner-up. The participants mixed up the five-a-side teams.
