THE largest recruitment campaign for drug workers in Darlington and County Durham will be launched next week.

People are being invited to hear about career opportunities in the area at a promotional event at the Ramside Hall Hotel, Durham City, on Thursday, May 17.

The event has been organised by the Durham and Darlington Drug Action Teams.

It is believed to be the largest recruitment campaign for drugs workers to take place in the region.

The teams are undergoing a significant expansion and are seeking qualified and experienced professionals in areas including nursing, outreach work and counselling.

David Cliff, coordinator for the Durham and Darlington Drug Action Teams, said: "The statutory and voluntary sectors are working hand-in-hand to produce effective, joined-up approaches to buying quality services for substance misusers and their families.

"There are exciting prospects ahead for drug workers in our area as services expand to meet the growing challenge of substance misuse."

There will be formal presentations at 1.30pm, 3.30pm and 6pm.
