PROVISION should be made for a business park in the Redcar area, according to the Tees Valley Joint Strategy Unit.
The unit is made up of representatives from throughout the Tees Valley and they have suggested the need for a business park in their response to the area's local plans.
The plans highlight possible areas for business and residential development in the coming years, in various boroughs, and draft copies have been sent to the strategy unit for comment.
Following on from the success of Kirkleatham Business Park, the unit suggested a similar scheme in the Redcar area could attract new business and development.
A spokesman said: "The existing provision made by the local plans that cover the Tees Valley is sufficient in all areas except for Redcar and Cleveland.
"Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council may therefore seek to make further provision for a business park-type development to the south of Redcar.
"The borough council will need to consider whether or not this location is the most appropriate."
The strategy unit has suggested any new business park should only be started once the Kirkleatham Business Park is almost complete.
