DESIGNER Miss Lynne Glazzard has been making jewellery for only a year, but she is already exhibiting in an international gallery in Dublin.

And, following a trip to New York with Made in Yorkshire, she hopes eventually to sell work in the USA.

Miss Glazzard specialises in designing and making enamelled jewellery in her workshop at Low Gillbeck Farm in Glaisdale.

Originally from Grosmont, she moved to Glaisdale three years ago after completing an interior design course as a mature student at Lincolnshire and Humberside university.

"I became interested in detail while on that course and it led me on to design and make jewellery," said Miss Glazzard. "A lot of my work is influenced by the countryside around here and the sea." She gets great satisfaction in designing each piece and building up the colours and shapes.

"I have always been keen on photography and art but wanted to work for myself doing something right through from the initial design to the finished product," she said.

The trip to New York allowed her to make contacts, explore business opportunities, and judge what the market might be like in America. She now aims to break into that market in two or three years time, when she has a sufficiently large collection. Enamelled jewellery is often very bright and colourful - popular features in America.

In the meantime she has several current exhibitions including those in the Driftwood Studios, Thirsk; Dazzle in Malton; and South Holland Arts in Spalding, Lincolnshire.

On the return trip from New York she visited Dublin and was thrilled when an international gallery asked to exhibit her jewellery. She was particularly thrilled that her work was appearing at the same time as an exhibition by Wendy Ramshaw, a leading designer.

Miss Glazzard also makes bracelets and earrings in aluminium, which is extremely light to wear, and is an accomplished artist
