NEW bands will have a chance to showcase their talent at an event this summer.
NSK Bearings of Peterlee is sponsoring a Battle of the Bands competition, which will run throughout the summer.
The event promises to attract the very best local talent, who will fight it out for cash prizes over three heats during June, July and August.
The competition will culminate in a grand final on an outdoor stage at the Peterlee Show, on September 1.
The winning band will walk away with a cash prize of £1,000, but will also have the opportunity to go into a recording studio and cut their own CD.
Kevin Nicholson, from NSK Bearings, said: "The North-East has been a hotbed of talent since the 1960s, and who knows, we may just see the beginnings of a new musical force who will go on to make their own mark in the industry."
