PEOPLE are being urged to back proposals for a new play area - or lose the chance of £80,000 for their community.
A lack of facilities in Kirkleatham, Redcar, prompted Top Lakes Residents' Association and Kirkleatham Community Forum to call for action.
They asked the community to suggest their priorities for improvement. The most popular answer was a play area for youngsters under 16.
Enron, at the Wilton site, offered to produce drawings of how the site could look. Now a public meeting to discuss the play area is planned for Saturday, June 16, from 6.30pm at Green Gates Primary School, near the suggested location of Roseberry field.
If there is enough support, it is hoped the Government will contribute up to £80,000 from its Single Regeneration Budget.
