Darlington RA made it a hat-trick of cup final wins when they lifted the Darlington Charity Cup at Feethams on Tuesday night, beating Hartlepool Arriva 4-1.

The RA, also looking a good bet for the Hathaway Auckland and District League crown, took a 1-0 through Martin Brown but Arriva fought back to equalise and enjoyed a good, if rather brief spell, until the RA regained control and never looked back.

Graham Dodsworth put RA into a 2-1 and the other two goals came from Daryl Hill and Gary Lowes.

The RA, winners of the Auckland Charity Cup, lifted the Sacriston Aged Miners Cup on Monday morning, with a 1-0 success against Durham Alliance side Washington Westwood, Gary Lowes getting the all-important goal five minutes from the end.

The RA's one cup failure was in the league challenge cup when they suffered a first-round defeat against local rivals DSRM.

RA moved a step nearer the league title with a 3-0 win at Witton Park on Wednesday night. RA now require four points from their remaining two fixtures - at Quinns Inn tonight and at home to Witton Park on Monday.

The Auckland and District League is seeking new teams for next season and any club requiring more details should contact secretary Barrie Pickering on 01325-256392.
